Once again plans are to organize a LEO club in the Seneca High School.  We hope to get the school staff motivated up and running.   Our Optometrist,  Dr Frank Forgnoni is doing a fantastic job with our request for eye exams and glasses.  We are very grateful for his contribution to Lionism.

FUND RAISERS:  We held another broom sale for Saturday, May 21st & 22nd at Wal-mart here in Seneca.  Sale was very sucessful, selling 129 brooms.

Our annual installation of new officers will be held on June 22nd at Paesano's Restrauant in Seneca, spouses will attend.

Installing officer will be Lion Joe B. Cocke, PDG of the Clemson Lions Club.

We will have a joint meeting with the Salem, Westminster, and Walhalla clubs on September 28th.  District Governor Lion Dr. Keith Taylor will make his official visit for all four zone "L" clubs at this time.

Coming events: Ongoing activities of our club are: Eye exams and glasses for needy citizens, average nine pair per month. From July 2008-June 2009 our cost was over $10,000.  Collection of used Eye glasses, averages 300 pair per month. We collect, package and ship used eye glasses each month. Made a contribution of $1,500.00 South Carolina Lions Charitable Services. Help support our S C Lions Eye Research Center and Storm Eye Institute in Charleston, SC. Contribute to the Vitamin A fund. Help support Leader Dogs for the Blind in Rochester Mi.,$200.00 donated to Camp Lions Den a camp for the blind and visualy impaired, and much more. Our vision screening at the Middle Schools were a complete success. We screened over 800 seventh graders at the two schools with about 12% needing attention with their sight.  We have scheduled the Screening Unit to return in November 2010 to screen all 7th graders in Oconee County.   The Peace Poster contest at the Seneca Middle School will be initiated again this year. We voted to contribute $200.00 to the Lions fishing outing for the blind and visually impaired. Plans are being made to hold a broom sale at the local Walmart store.  Broom sale was very sucessful, selling out of brooms.  We held another sucessful pancake breakfast in April raising over $400.00.  We purchased a new grill for our pancake breakfast that made the cooking much faster.  New request for Eye glasses continue to come in at a steady pace, seems there is no end to the need for the less fortunate in Seneca.
